STAMFORD, Conn.-- Firefighters from Stamford's South End Fire Station on Washington Boulevard had to travel only about 150 yards to douse a blaze at an HVAC cooling tower at 2200 Washington Blvd. on Sunday night.
At about 10:30 p.m., firefighters noticed what appeared to be heavy smoke coming from the cooling tower. Crews deployed hoselines from the stairwell across the roof to extinguish the fire.
The blaze was out within 15 minutes of the arrival of the firefighters.
The fire marshal's office is investigating the incident.
