STAMFORD, Conn. — Stamford firefighters were able to contain damage from a fire mostly to the rear of a home on Webb Avenue on Sunday afternoon, but a family of three people was displaced, the Stamford Fire Department reported on Twitter.

Stamford firefighters set up a rapid and coordinated attack on the blaze, which broke out shortly before noon in the house at 118 Webb Ave. in the Cove neighborhood.

A heavy fire was reported in the rear of the 2 1/2-story dwelling. A total of 26 firefighters responded and quickly brought the flames under control, the Stamford Fire Department said.

The fire originated on the rear deck, and extended into the residence.

The occupants were not home at the time of the fire, and it is currently under investigation by the fire marshal’s office.

There were no injuries to residents or firefighters in the Sunday blaze.
