Stamford Couple Arrested Following Stabbing Incident

STAMFORD, Conn. — A Stamford couple were arrested Thursday after police found both with stab wounds and the woman had been run over, Lt. Diedrich Hohn said.

Hohn gave this account of the incident: Maricela Linares-Alvarado, 30, and Pedro Menchu-Garcia, 27, got into a fight, and she stabbed herself in the chest and him in the shoulder and arm. He then got into his car and was trying to leave when she opened the passenger door. He hit the accelerator, causing her to fall out, and her right forearm was run over.

Both were treated for non-life threatening injuries at Stamford Hospital and released, he said.

The two had gotten into a fight around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, Hohn said, and Menchu-Garcia left Linares-Alvarado's Glenbrook Road residence and returned about an hour later. That's when the stabbing occurred, Hohn said. Menchu-Garcia also had cocaine in his possession, Hohn said.

Linares-Alvarado was charged with second-degree assault, carrying a dangerous weapon and interfering, Hohn said. She was held on a $10,000 bond and was to appear in court Thursday.

Menchu-Garcia was charged with possession of narcotics, third-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment and breach of peace, Hohn said. He was held on a $5,000 bond and was also slated to appear in court Thursday.
