The Easton Police Commission approved the hiring of Shaw, 48, at a salary of $105,000 per year to oversee the 14-officer Easton department, the Advocate said.
A graduate of the University of Connecticut, Shaw has spent his entire career up until now in the Stamford Police Department, the Advocate said.
Shaw will replace Easton Police Chief James Candee, 66, who is retiring July 1 after 43 years with the department.
