On Feb. 28, a pizza delivery driver was beaten and robbed while making a delivery to an address on St. George Avenue that did not exist, police said. As was he realizing this, a black male flagged him down to a house down the road, police said.
When the driver got out of the car, four suspects, one with a handgun, pistol-whipped him, punched and kicked him numerous times, police said. Then they went through his pockets and taking his cellphone, money and credit cards before fleeing, police said.
The driver returned to Domino's to report the assault and robbery, police said. He was treated at Stamford Hospital for several cuts and a fractured eye socket, police said.
Investigators located the person who made the call to Domino's to order the pizza and obtained a search warrant for a 17-year-old man, police said.
On March 10, officers went to Stamford Academy to talk to the youth, police said. While at the school, officers found marijuana packaged for sale, a facsimile handgun and a cellphone in his backpack, police said.
The youth was arrested and taken to the department for processing. During the interview, he admitted being involved in the assault and robbery of the pizza deliveryman, police said.
In a related incident on March 2, the Stamford Patrol Division stopped three youths in a stolen car at the La Quinta Hotel, police said. Inside the car, officers found credit cards belonging to the pizza deliveryman, police said. All three youths were arrested on charges of larceny and marijuana possession, police said.
Officers linked a 16- and 17-year-old suspect to Stamford Academy, and the arrests were made there, police said. Both teens were held at the Bridgeport Detention Center.
The 17-year-old arrested March 10 was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of marijuana and possession of a facsimile handgun.
He was held on $200,000 bond.The Police Department said his case will be transferred to the adult docket.
