Seven DUI Arrests Made In Stamford Over Holiday Weekend

STAMFORD, Conn. — Police arrested seven people over the Thanksgiving weekend on charges of driving under the influence, a news release said.

The department increased patrols during the weekend, and also manned a sobriety check point on East Main Street Saturday through a state grant, the release said. The state program is designed to remove drunken drivers from the roads for the holidays.

The extra patrols started just before Thanksgiving and will continue until New Year’s Eve, the release said.

Arrests were made as follows, according to the department:

Leon Schweir, 60, of San Francisco, was charged with operating under the influence and driving the wrong way on a one way street on Nov. 23.

Gregory Tretter, 51, of Stamford was charged with operating under the influence and failure to drive right on Nov. 23.

Ivan Bodnar, 26, of Stamford was charged with operating under the influence and failure to drive in the proper lane on Nov. 23.

Emilio Vargas, 36, of Stamford was charged with operating under the influence, failure to drive right and failure to drive right on Nov. 24.

Jose Rivera, 41, of Stamford was charged with operating under the influence and not having insurance on Nov. 25.

Minerba Oquendo, 56, of Stamford was charged with operating under the influence on Nov. 25.

David Robertino, 21, of Stamford was charged with operating under the influence and possession of  a weapon in a motor vehicle on Nov. 25.
