BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Seven people were arrested in Hartford on Monday at a protest calling for justice for a 15-year-old Bridgeport resident fatally shot by police in May, according to the Hartford Courant.

Protestors had gathered at the state Capitol on Monday morning to call for the arrest of the officer who fatally shot 15-year-old Jayson Negron. Bridgeport Police Officer James Boulay shot Negron on May 9. Police said that Negron was driving a stolen car and had accelerated toward police, hitting at least one officer. A 21-year-old passenger in the car was also shot by officers.

State police have opened an investigation into the shooting.

Protestors, which included Negron's family as well as activists, gathered in Hartford on Monday to demand that Boulay be charged with murder, according to the Hartford Courant. The protestors were demanding accountability, and that the investigators release their findings in the probe of the use of deadly force, the Courant reported.

The seven people arrested at the protest on Monday were taken into custody within minutes of the protest starting, according to the Hartford Courant. It was not immediately clear what they were charged with, the Courant reported.
