Second Brother Accused Of Stealing From Father's Stamford Estate

STAMFORD, Conn. – Blood may be thicker than water, but for four brothers it seems not to be thicker than money.

Richard Everett, 59, of Bronxville, N.Y. is facing a first-degree larceny charge after failing to split a $600,000 inheritance from their Stamford father with two of his brothers, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Everett is the second brother suspected of double-crossing the family, the Advocate reported.

The inheritance, left by Stamford resident T.E. Montague Everett, originally totaled $1.2 million, according the Advocate. His son Montague Everett was originally named executor but was stripped of the position after refusing to distribute the money evenly among his three brothers, according to the Advocate.

A settlement with Montague Everett left Richard Everett with the task of splitting $600,000 with the two remaining brothers, but according to police, Richard Everett has instead hoarded some of the money while using the rest to pay personal expenses, according to the Advocate.
