Ridgefield Woman Caused Late Night Disruption In Bar, Stamford Cops Say

Elizabeth G. Blum, 37, of 94 Silver Spring Lane, was charged with second-degree breach of peace and interfering with an officer, police said.

The incident began when Blum arrived at the establishment with two friends at about 1 a.m., police Sgt. Kelly Connelly said. She asked for drinks for herself and her friends, but the bartender refused to serve her because she appeared to be intoxicated, Connelly said.

Blum agreed and said to start a tab so her friends could have a glass of wine, Connelly said.

But she was loud and caused enough of a stir that her two acquaintances apologized to the staff, police said. At the end of the night, the two friends left and Blum declined to pay the bill because she said she had only had water, police said. She became loud and abusive with staff and also tried to get into the employees' area, Connelly said.

Police were called, but the woman continued to be loud and refused to cooperate, Connelly said. At one point, Blum pulled out her credit card to pay for the bill, discovered it was her mother's but assured the staff she was allowed to use it, Connelly said.

The situation continued to deteriorate, Connelly said, and officers waited for about 15 minutes before finally losing patience and telling Blum that she was coming with them.

She told them not to touch her because "she had a traumatic brain injury," Connelly said.

She was taken into custody, charged and released later on a promise to appear in court.
