Report: Body Of Missing Boy Pulled From Water In Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. -- The body of a 12-year-old boy who disappeared in the water Friday afternoon at Cove Island Park in Stamford has been recovered, according to NBC Connecticut.

The boy, identified as Rashad Gross, was pronounced dead at Stamford Hospital, according to NBC. 

According to the Stamford fire department, police divers pulled his body out of the water shortly after 5 p.m. and rushed him to the hospital, NBC said. Read the full story here

A search had been underway near Stamford's Cove Island Park and Darien's Holly Pond since the boy went missing just before 2 p.m., the Belltown Fire Department said in a Tweet.

The search was described as a rescue dive operation, fire officials said. Marine police from Stamford, Darien and Norwalk responded.
