STAMFORD, Conn. Power was restored at the Stamford Government Center, and it will be open for business as usual Friday morning, according to a statement Thursday night from the mayors office.
On behalf of the City of Stamford, we wish to sincerely thank all Government Center employees for their patience, outstanding support and willingness to work in satellite locations, in order to provide continued services to our residents, Mayor Michael Pavia said in the statement.
The Government Center had been without power since Wednesday afternoon when a transformer room caught fire. The outage forced the city to close the building to the public and offer only essential and emergency services to residents.
Connecticut Light & Power had been working to restore power since Wednesday evening, a previous statement from Pavias office said.
