The materials were found Wednesday when police accompanied the city’s health department in a search of the home, McElligott said. The department’s bomb squad went back later in the day and seized the materials and other evidence, he said.

“It’s absolutely a concern,” McElligott said, describing the materials as something not found in most households.

No charges have been filed against the homeowner, who was briefly interviewed by police and was cooperative, he said. The house has since been turned back over to him, he said.

The health department went to the home because the owner is suspected of running a boarding house out of the home, which would be a zoning violation, McElligott said.
