The raid, which took place early Thursday, netted more than $6,000 in cash, 71 bags of heroin and nine grams of marijuana, the captain said. The bags of heroin each have a street value of $20, making the total $1,420, he said.

Members of the Narcotics & Organized Crime Unit of the Stamford Police Department had been investigating the suspect before the raid, Conklin said.

Donald Pirro, 57, lived in the public housing facility at 26 Main St., and police were working with the city on a possible eviction, Conklin said.

Pirro was charged with possession of narcotics, sale of certain illegal drugs, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drugs near a school, day care, or public housing facility, police said.

The suspect was held on $50,000 bond and has a court date of May 8, Conklin said.
