STAMFORD, Conn. -- A thirsty man who wanted the good times to continue was arrested after he tried to steal alcohol from a downtown Stamford restaurant at lunch time on Friday, police said.
Douglas Panetta, 54, of 114 Morgan St., was charged with third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny. His bond was set at $5,000, and he is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford on April 17.
The manager of Lola's Mexican Kitchen at 135 Bedford St. went to the restaurant's rear to check on a delivery at about 12:30 p.m. and noticed a man walking out with three bottles of Grand Marnier valued at $10 each and a pair of wine bottles worth $10 each, police said.
The man didn't offer any resistance to the manager and told police he had been drinking and "just wanted to keep drinking," Sgt. Kelly Connelly said.
