Police: Stamford Call Threatening Kids At Fairfield University Was A Hoax

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Fairfield police said a call to the Stamford police that a woman planned to go to Fairfield University and "kill her kids" was a hoax, according to the Fairfield Citizen.

Police responded to Fairfield University at about 4 p.m. Monday, the Citizen reported.

Fairfield officers determined the call to Stamford police was a hoax and turned the matter over to Stamford police to investigate, the Citizen said.

The Fairfield University Department of Public Safety posted this statement on its Facebook page:

TO: University Community

This afternoon, Public Safety officers and the Fairfield Police responded to a medical/personal situation involving a family with a son enrolled at Fairfield Prep. Out of an abundance of caution, several police vehicles responded to the scene on campus. It was determined that no threat to the campus community existed and the matter is being handled by the police.

While there is no threat to the campus community, we are notifying the community of this matter because the response took place along Loyola Drive in a highly visible location on campus. Therefore, we want to be sure that those who saw the large police presence on campus or heard about it from others know that the situation did not involve a threat to the community and was quickly under control.
