The intended victim, a 5-foot-6 black man, fled after the shooting, police said. It is not known whether he suffered any injuries in the 7:45 p.m. shooting in the area of 235 W. Main St., Sgt. Kelly Connelly said.
A West Main Street woman heard three shots that she described as sounding like "pow, pow, pow," Connelly said. The woman believed the shooting occurred in the area of Carwin Park near West Main Street and Spruce Street.
Another witness, told police that he saw a black male, about 5-foot-10 with an average build, firing the gun.
Despite the heat, the shooter was wearing a black zip-up hoody with gray stripes on the arm, black pants and black shoes, police said.
Connelly said police found three shell casings at the scene and are continuing the investigation and the search for the shooter and the victim.
