Police: Norwalk Man Sexually Assaulted Juvenile, Threatened Victim's Family

NORWALK, Conn. -- A 40-year-old Norwalk man was charged with sexually assaulting a juvenile and threatening to kill the victim's family if they told anyone, according to police

The Norwalk Police Department Special Victims Unit launched a sexual assault investigation into Carlos Olivera of Washington Street on Thursday, July 20, and quickly learned that Olivera had sexual contact with a juvenile who was known to him, according to police. During the assault, Olivera threatened to kill the victim's family if the victim told anyone, police said.

As a result, a warrant was issued for Olivera's arrest. In the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 25, police responded to a suspicious person complaint on Washington Street, and were able to locate the suspect, Olivera, on North Main Street, police said.

Olivera was taken into custody and charged with fourth-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a minor, first-degree unlawful restraint and second-degree threatening. His bond was set at $50,000 and he was given a court date of Aug. 2.
