STAMFORD, Conn. -- As a woman drove to a gas station near I-95's Exit 9 on East Main Street in Stamford, she noticed a vehicle with no headlights on tailgating her around 12:30 a.m. Monday, police said.
She pulled over to let the driver go by, but instead he pulled up beside her and pointed a handgun at her, police said.
The woman fled, driving up to a police officer who was making a traffic stop nearby at East Main Street and Lincoln Avenue, police said. The distraught 23-year-old woman ran up to the officer to relate what happened.
Officers flooded the area, but a suspect could not be found.
He was described as a white man in his 40s with gray hair and wearing a brown sweater. He was driving a black, four-door sedan.
