STAMFORD, Conn. — A man in his late 30s died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in the parking garage of the Stamford Marriott Hotel on Tresser Boulevard late Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Police were called to the garage after the hotel’s security staff observed a man lying down in the parking garage. Officers responded rapidly to the scene and secured the area, police said.

The department is currently seeking to notify next of kin, police said.

Several police cruisers were still parked outside the hotel’s parking garage as of 5 p.m. Traffic is being allowed through the hotel’s front circle and driveway. Partitions and curtains have been set up around the scene in the garage, police said.
