Investigators believe Howard Rose, 25, was waiting in the back of 24 Woodland Place in the South End and opened fire on a Jeep that had entered the property Tuesday night, according to the department’s Facebook Page. The suspect then fled on foot toward Ludlow Street, police said.

Rose is described as 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-9, 160 to 180 pounds, with a full facial beard and a low-cropped haircut, police said. He is known to frequent the Woodland Place, Ludlow Street, South Pacific Street and Henry Street, police said.

The Jeep returned fire as it fled and was described as a red “newer model” and has either North or South Carolina plates, police said previously. The vehicle was not supposed to be at the residence, and investigators believe it was set up for an ambush.

No one was hurt in the shooting, police say.

If you see Rose, call police at 203-977-4444 or 911.
