STAMFORD, Conn. -- When police officers arrested a 20-year-old Stamford man Thursday on a warrant charging him with murder, they found him just down the street from where the fatal shooting occurred June 5, police told the Stamford Advocate .
Andre Quinn Russell, of 83 Ludlow St., was charged in the death of William "Buttons" James, 46, who was shot at point-blank range in the head, the Advocate said. He was held on $1 million bond and is due in court Friday morning, the story said.
Russell, was taken into custody without incident, the Advocate said.
James was shot at Pacific Street and Woodland Place while a crowd of about 50 people was in the area, the Advocate reported. A surveillance camera in the area recorded the murder, and eyewitnesses came forward, the Advocate said.
This was the first homicide in Stamford since April 19, 2013
