NYPD officials denied a PIX 11 report, based on sources, that there was a “credible threat" against New York City leading into the holidays.

PIX11 News on Tuesday afternoon reported that a “credible threat” had been lodged against New York City.

PIX11 amended its earlier report after the NYPD denial, saying that officers were reminded in a memo to be on heightened alert.

Additional law enforcement was expected at iconic spots throughout the city -- Times Square, St. Patrick's Cathedral and even the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

All NYPD officers received a bulletin Tuesday afternoon outlining the department’s tactical plan and warning officers to remain vigilant, according to the report.

A federal law enforcement source reportedly told PIX11 that the threat could take place in several major U.S. cities.

The report comes a week after a menacing email received by public school districts in New York and Los Angeles contained what Bratton said were threats that mirrored recent episodes of the show “Homeland.” Los Angeles closed its schools as a result.

New York City has been on high alert since Nov. 13 terror attacks in Paris killed 130 and injured hundreds.

ISIS, which later took responsibility, released a video showing scenes in Manhattan.

Police everywhere, as always, urge citizens to remain vigilant and to say something if they see something.
