Susan Drucker, 56, of 11 E. 77th St., New York City, told police she was a research specialist at New York Presbyterian Hospital and that was why she had the stethoscope, Sgt. Robert Shawinsky said Tuesday.

The woman had been wandering around the area of the maternity ward shortly before noon, including going into rooms until someone called security, Shawinsky said.

"This is not the first time they have dealt with her. She has been trespassing on the property in the past,” he said.

There is no evidence she had any interaction with any patients, Shawinsky said.

Nurses had spotted the woman at the nurses' station and staff thought she may have been a pediatrician visiting the hospital, Shawinsky said police were told.

During a search of Drucker's property after her arrest, police discovered a number of hospital wristbands with different names on them, he said. The unemployed woman said little to police after her arrest, Shawinsky said.

She was charged with second-degree criminal trespass and disorderly conduct. She posted $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 19.

The matter is still under investigation by Stamford police, he said.

In an emailed statement by hospital spokesman Craig Andrews said hospital staff acted quickly once they realized something was amiss.

“On Monday morning, Stamford Hospital staff observed suspicious activity by an individual near a patient care area. Per their training, they immediately followed established protocols and notified Stamford Police Department, who responded quickly and took appropriate action."
