Maximilian Graber, 19, was charged with first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery.

In the incident, a 17-year-old was walking through the parking lot at Jake's Wayback Burgers on Hope Street when he saw the suspect accompanied by a 17-year-old step out of a blue Dodge van and approach him, Sgt. Kelly Connelly said.

The victim recognized Grabler because they had attended the same high school, Connelly said. Grabler showed a knife, while the other teen may have had a gun although the victim didn't see one, she said.

The suspects took the victim's wallet and the $165 in it, police said. They also grabbed his cellphone, but it fell to the ground as he struggled with the younger assailant, Connelly said.

The two suspects fled the scene, but the victim was able to get the van's license plate number and gave it to police, she said. Officers were able to track it Grabler's home and were waiting for him when he returned to the North Stamford location, Connelly said.

The victim identified Grabler as the suspect, and he was arrested. The second teen was described as a black male with a medium build and an Afro.

The police investigation is continuing.
