STAMFORD, Conn. — A man who police said was riding a stolen motorcycle in early June led officers on a chase in Stamford on Saturday after driving through a red light, according to the Stamford Advocate.
Police told the Stamford Advocate that an officer was on patrol on East Main Street when he saw the motorcycle go through a red light. The officer tried to pull over the motorcycle, but the driver kept going while looking back several times to see whether the officer was still following, the Stamford Advocate said.
Eventually the motorcycle turned onto Home Court and stopped, according to the Stamford Advocate. The driver was identified as 28-year-old Sameer Valani of Durham, N.C., according to the Stamford Advocate.
Police determined that Valani had a small amount of marijuana on him, and that the motorcycle had been stolen on June 11, according to the Stamford Advocate. He was charged with larceny, engaging in pursuit, reckless endangerment, driving without a license and running a red light, according to the Advocate.
