STAMFORD, Conn. -- A man who stole a motorcycle in early June led police on a chase in Stamford on Saturday after driving through a red light, according to the Stamford Advocate.
Police told the Stamford Advocate that an officer was on patrol on East Main Street when he saw the motorcycle go through a red light Saturday afternoon. The office tried to pull the motorcycle over, the the driver kept on going while looking back several times to see if the officer was still following, the Stamford Advocate reported.
Eventually the motorcycle turned onto Home Court and stopped, with the driver laying it down on the ground, according to the Stamford Advocate. The driver was identified as 28-year-old Sameer Valani of Durham, North Carolina, according to the Stamford Advocate.
Police determined that Valani had a small amount of marijuana on him, and that the motorcycle had been stolen on June 11, according to the Stamford Advocate. Valani was charged with larceny, engaging in pursuit, reckless endangerment, driving without a license and running a red light, according to the Stamford Advocate.
