The officer didn’t bite and instead told the man he and others who were not residents had to leave, police said. While the others complied, police said John Duarte, 36, of 112 Milton Drive, Meriden, refused to do so.

When an officer attempted to handcuff him, Duarte didn’t cooperate and a second officer had to help with the handcuffs, police said.

Duarte was charged with simple trespass and interfering with an officer.
