STAMFORD, Conn. -- A man tried to rob a Stamford pizza parlor employee on Burr Street using a fake gun Thursday night, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Police told the Stamford Advocate that the employee had pulled over in his car at around 10 p.m. on Burr Street to count proceeds from sales that night. At that point a man walked up to the car, pointed a gun at the employee and demanded money, according to the Stamford Advocate.

The employee noticed that the gun had an orange tip on it and was therefore not a real gun, the Stamford Advocate reported. Rather than handing over the money, he called his father and the would-be robber ran off, according to the Stamford Advocate.

The robber was described as a black male, about 30 years old and wearing a mask over his eyes and nose, the Stamford Advocate reported. Police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect, according to the Stamford Advocate.
