D'Juan Paulk, 39, was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, second-degree criminal mischief and sixth-degree larceny. His bond was set at $100,000.

Officers were called to Van Zant Street at 4:30 a.m. Aug. 30 on a report of a man who had fallen and struck his head. The responding officer quickly realized it wasn't an accident and that it was, in fact, a criminal matter, Lt. Thomas Matera said.

The investigation led officers to Paulk, who turned himself in to police when he learned there was an arrest warrant for him, Matera said. He also gave police a confession, Matera said.

Matera declined to release the victim's age or say whether he is a Norwalk resident. He said the suspect and the victim did know one another.
