Man Attacks Girlfriend With Pool Cue, Stamford Police Say

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Angered by his girlfriend's reasonable request that he turn the music down at 4 a.m. Sunday, a Stamford man grabbed a broken pool cue and hit her on the arm, police said.

Uriel Ramirez, 32, of 120 Henry St., is charged with second-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace for striking his girlfriend with a broken pool cue, Stamford Police said.

Uriel Ramirez, 32, of 120 Henry St., was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace in the incident.

Officers were called to the Henry Street residence at about 4 a.m. by the 27-year-old woman, who said her boyfriend had attacked her with the pool cue after she asked him to turn the music down, police said. She said her boyfriend had been drinking through the night, police said.

However, Ramirez said it was his girlfriend that struck him, police said. But officers could find no marks on his body while they could find bruises on his girlfriend's arm, police said.

The woman declined medical treatment.

Ramirez was scheduled to make his first court appearance in state Superior Court on Monday.
