Osman Mendoza, 30, of 114 Ludlow St., was charged with operating under the influence, engaging in a police pursuit and evading responsibility. Information on a bond and court date were not available.

A witness saw a Nissan Altima make a wide right turn onto Courtland Avenue from Taylor Reed Place at about 10 p.m. Friday and then strike two vehicles waiting at a red light, police said. The driver didn't stop and fled toward East Main Street, police said.

The witness continued to follow the vehicle and called 911 to alert police due to concerns that the driver was impaired because the vehicle was weaving on the roadway, police said.

About 10 minutes later, officers saw the suspect's vehicle traveling south on Canal Street, police said. The officers activated emergency lights and siren, but the driver wouldn’t stop, police said.

The vehicle made a right turn on to Ludlow Street, then pulled into the driveway of 114 Ludlow St., where it came to a stop, police said.

The officers approached the vehicle and noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle, police said. They arrested Mendoza, who was the sole occupant, police said.
