Landscaper Comes Clean To Stamford Police On Two Guns He Buried

STAMFORD, Conn. -- A landscaper said he found two guns in a Stamford home back in the spring but was afraid to tell anyone until Friday, when he gathered up enough courage to tell a police officer about the stash, said police.

A landscaper turned over a handgun, 95 bullets and a shotgun that he said he found a few months ago while working on a property on Young Dixon Way.

The man told the officer he was working on a property on Young Dixon Way off Fairfield Avenue, when he found a .22-caliber revolver along with 95 bullets for it and a shotgun, police said.

The landscaper placed the revolver in a cereal box and buried it in a pile of debris behind a shed on the property, police said. He put the bullets in a plastic bag and shoved it into the debris, then did the same with the shotgun, police said.

Sgt. Kelly Connelly said police will examine the firearms to determine whether they have been used in any crimes.
