Investigators from the New Canaan Police Department were in Norwalk Court on Thursday to serve an active arrest warrant on Vanshawne Wheeler, who is currently incarcerated for unknown charges.

Police said that Wheeler committed 11 larcenies from motor vehicles overnight on the Fourth of July last year. Investigators responded the following day to process the vehicles that had been entered, collecting DNA samples that were submitted to the Connecticut State Police lab for evaluation. Surveillance video from a nearby gas station was also reviewed, where Wheeler used stolen credit cards to purchase items.

The investigation led to Wheeler, who was charged with 11 counts of burglary, four counts of identity theft and four counts of payment card theft on Thursday morning. Bond was set at $300,000 for Wheeler, who was remanded into custody.
