STAMFORD, Conn. -- A 29-year-old Stamford man was charged with hitting a woman in the head with a beer bottle in a Stamford park back in July, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Police told the Stamford Advocate that the 45-year-old woman reported on July 24 that she had been sitting at a picnic table in a park on Southfield Drive when the incident happened. She was drinking alcohol when she was approached by a man who hit her with a bottle and ran off, the Stamford Advocate reported.

When officers arrived, they saw the woman had an eight-inch laceration on her head in front of her left ear, according to the Stamford Advocate. She told officers what happened and they were able to review surveillance video, the Stamford Advocate reported.

Police were able to identify the man in the video as 29-year-old Lance Rhodes, according to the Stamford Advocate. Rhodes is currently in federal prison on drug charges, and was brought to court on Wednesday and charged with the July incident, according to the Stamford Advocate.
