STAMFORD, Conn. -- A city man suspected in the murder of his estranged wife will be brought to Stamford around noon, Stamford Police said.
Lt. Tom Barcello said Elmer Gomez Ruano, 32, was being held in New York but waived an extradition hearing.
Stamford police named Gomez Ruano as the suspect in the murder of Dionicia Bautista-Cano, 24, who was found dead Nov. 14 in the Glenbrook Apartment she had just moved into.
Police had said the couple had recently reunited and moved into the Courtland Avenue apartment with their 6-year-old daughter just days before the death.
Gomez Ruano abandoned his daughter at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City, police said. Through questioning the child police were able to go back to the apartment to find the deceased woman.
