Greenwich Mail Carrier Caught Stealing Gift Cards

A Greenwich mail carrier was arrested Tuesday and charged with the theft of gift cards from the mail.

Ismail Laksabi, 43, of Springdale Court, Norwalk, was arrested following a three-month investigation by the U.S. Postal Service, the State Financial Crimes Task Force and Greenwich police.

Laksabi, a mail carrier in Central Greenwich, is accused of stealing gift cards purchased for residents on his route, according to the arrest report.

He is facing 13 counts of receipt of money or goods obtained by illegal use of credit card, in addition to charges of larceny and credit-card theft by transfer and illegal use of a credit card, police added.

Laksabi is being held on $25,000 bail.
