STAMFORD, Conn. A former Stamford resident has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, suspended after three years, in the death of his son two years ago, a release from Stamford Police said.
Abdul Dorris, 46, was also sentenced to five years' probation. The sentence was handed down Friday.
Police were called to a Broad Street apartment on July 22, 2010, on a report that Mikel Robinson, 10, was unresponsive in the bathtub, the release said. Upon arrival, police found no water in the tub, and the bathroom had been cleaned up, the release said.
An autopsy on Mikels body came back inconclusive.
Police arrested Mikel's father, Dorris, and his girlfriend, Monica Parker, 32, in Tennessee earlier this year and brought them back to Stamford, the release said. The two had moved out of the city after the incident.
Dorris pleaded guilty to risk of injury to a child. Parker received a suspended sentence for her role in the investigation, the release said.
