Former Stamford Man Gets 6 Months In Prison For Selling Cocaine

STAMFORD, Conn. — A former Stamford resident was sentenced Thursday to six months in federal prison for distributing cocaine, officials said.

Scott Veltri, 34, of New York pleaded guilty March 6 to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute cocaine, said a statement from acting U.S. Attorney for Connecticut Dierdre Daly. After six months in prison, he will serve four years of supervised release, with the first six months in home confinement, the statement said. He also must forfeit $30,000, the statement said.

Documents and statements made in court showed Veltri was part of a Fairfield County-based drug trafficking ring in 2009 and 2010. The investigation found that he had acquired cocaine from others in the ring and then distributed it in smaller amounts, the release said.

The sentencing was made by U.S District Judge Janet Hall in New Haven.
