The victim, who used to live in Pound Ridge, N.Y., is seriously injured at Stamford Hospital, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Capt. Richard Conklin said the victim suffered multiple gunshots in the chest and was in grave condition late Friday morning at the hospital.

"It was quite a shootout," Conklin said about the exchange of gunfire in the area of Cedar and Henry Streets in the city's South End just before 12:40 a.m.

When officers arrived on the scene, Raffaeli was lying on the roadway and was being comforted by his friend Juan Peralta, 25, of 735 Cove Road, police said.

Peralta and Raffaeli had exchanged gunfire with another individual or group, police said. Peralta was charged with a number of firearms-related offenses and held on $250,000 bond, police said.

A semi-automatic handgun and a revolver were recovered at the scene, police said. They were in the possession of Raffaeli and Peralta, police said.
