Firefighters Quickly Tackle Kitchen Blaze In Stamford Apartment

STAMFORD, Conn. — Stamford firefighters quickly extinguished a fire in an apartment Monday morning on Prospect St., fire officials said in a statement.

At 7:55 a.m. Monday,, fire units from the Woodside, Central, South End and West Side fire stations responded to 111 Prospect St. for a fire in an apartment on the second floor, the statement said.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a smoky condition in the second floor hallway and a fire involving the stove. The fire was extinguished and confined to the kitchen. 

The building was then ventilated to remove smoke from the second floor hallway.

A total of 26 firefighters, three engine companies, one truck company, one heavy rescue, one rapid intervention team, and one command vehicle responded to the fire.
