Fire Breaks Out At Stamford's Italian Center

STAMFORD, Conn. — A two-alarm fire was reported at the Italian Center in Stamford just after 6 a.m. Thursday, according to Twitter reports from the fire department.

Roads were closed off in the area of the Italian Center, at 1620 Newfield Ave., including Newfield Avenue, Davenport Ridge Road, and Vine Road, fire officials said.

The fire started in the area of the woman’s sauna in a gym area that opens at 5 a.m., according to the Connecticut Post.

No injuries were reported in the fire, which was knocked down just before 7 a.m., the Post said.

“Due to a fire in the building, the Italian Center will be closed until further notice,” said a post on its Facebook page Thursday morning.
