Police: Three Women Fight With Broken Beer Bottles At Stamford Cafe

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Three women got in to a fight at a cafe in Stamford early Monday and used broken beer bottles to slash each other, with one nearly losing her life, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Police told the Stamford Advocate that Jenely Holguin-Munoz of New York City visited the Discovery Cafe to celebrate her 18th birthday when she got into a verbal fight with Tanya Pichardo at the West Side bar. The fight then escalated with the two women beating each other, the Stamford Advocate reported.

At one point, the women grabbed beer bottles, smashed them and began cutting each other, police told the Stamford Advocate. That's when Pichardo's sister, Yakaryra Mercedes, of the Bronx, joined the fight and stabbed Holguin-Munoz in the stomach, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Police told the Stamford Advocate that the fight ended when officers arrived.

Holguin-Munoz received multiple, severe lacerations to both arms and a severed artery, as well as cuts to her abdomen, the Stamford Advocate said. She was taken to Stamford Hospital, where she was undergoing life-saving surgery, the Advocate said. Pichardo was treated and released, added the Stamford Advocate.
