Conklin said the Chief Medical Examiner said that Peter Cebo's death was a result of a bizarre accident.

The accident occurred when Stamford was assisting the Norwalk Police Department regarding a threatening incident and came to Cebo's High Ridge Road home to arrest him early Wednesday morning, Conkliin said.

When Cebo ran into the basement to try and get away before police found him, he headed into the dark basement and suffered a heart attack and fell head first into the gym equipment, causing his death, Conklin said.

Officers found Cebo while searching the home. Officers did not find any evidence of foul play or any kind of struggle, Conklin said.

"This was certainly a very tragic incident and truly traumatic for the family who were home at the time of the incident, Conklin said.
