The man had met his assailant over social media, and made arrangements to meet up and buy a cell phone from him, the Hour reported. They met at around 1:48 p.m. on Novak Street in Norwalk, but when the victim got his money out to buy the phone, the seller instead knocked him down, hit him and took his money, police told the Hour. The robber then drove off in a light-colored sedan, according to the Hour.

Police are investigating the robbery, and reminding residents that they can use a designated e-commerce safe zone to conduct online transactions. The safe zone is located in the parking lot of the Norwalk Police Department at 1 Monroe St.
