Fairfield Police: Westport Man Who Drove Car Into Building Had Heroin

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Westport man with eight grams of heroin in his car drove his BMW into a building in Southport on Sunday, police said.

The man, who appeared confused at the scene, was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries around 2 p.m., police said.

Witnesses said the man drove the 2010 BMW 528xi over the curb and into a cement wall at People’s Bank and continued westbound, speeding across the parking lot and into the wall at Southport Place, police said.

Police said they found eight grams of heroin in the car. No charges have been filed, but the investigation continues.
