Joseph Villafane, 34, of Shelton, was arrested Friday around 2 p.m. after officers with the unit received information that he would be arriving in town to deliver drugs, said Capt. Richard Conklin.

When officers approached Villfane as he pulled into his destination on Woodcliff Road, he twisted to the side as to hide something when he saw police approaching, Conklin said.

During a search, officers found 70 bags of heroin and six bags of crack cocaine in his left front pants pocket, along with a used hypodermic needle and a glass pipe, Conklin said.

He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell, among other charges.

He is being held on $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 15.
