At about 9:20 a.m. Friday, May 20, the robbery occurred at the Webster Bank at 1177 Post Road in Fairfield, said a statement from Deputy Police Chief Chris Lyddy.

The suspect, pictured above in a dark hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses, entered the bank, approached a teller, and handed her a note, Lyddy said. The suspect did not display a weapon, he said.

The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash in a pack, with a red-dye pack secretly included, the man fled from the bank and headed west on the Post Road on foot, the Fairfield Citizen reported.

The red-dye pack with the money exploded, tagging the man as a suspect, the Fairfield Citizen reported.

The suspect fled the area in a newer model maroon vehicle, Lyddy said.

The suspect is believed to have a tattoo on the left side of his neck, he said.

No injuries were reported.

Anyone with information on the bank robbery is asked to contact the Fairfield Detective Bureau at 203-254-4840.
