An officer was driving in the right lane on Post Road on Aug. 5 when a car came at a high rate of speed behind him, police say. The car swerved into the left lane, passed the marked cop car, and then swerved back into the right lane, according to the police report.
The officer then pulled over the car for speeding, police say. While talking with the driver, the officer smelled the odor of burnt marijuana, according to the police report.
Police found a plastic container with a substance that tested positive for cocaine and a plastic bag containing four individually wrapped bags of marijuana in the back seat, police say. An electronic scale with marijuana residue was also in the car, according to the arrest report.
The driver, Armen Karaptian, 25, of Tremont Avenue, Stamford, admitted to owning the marijuana and was charged with possession of marijuana and intent to sell. His bond was set at $15,000, and he is due in court Thursday.
Raul Nunez, 29, of East Avenue, Stamford, was in the passenger seat during the traffic stop. Both he and Karaptian denied ownership of the cocaine and the scale, but both were behind Nunez’s seat, police say.
Nunez was charged with possession of narcotics and intent to sell. His bond was set at $20,000, and he is also due in court Thursday.
