Antonio Lucaine, 26, of 54 Church St. in Yonkers, was arrested March 20 on six counts of violation of a protective order and second-degree threatening.

The arrest stemmed from a cellphone call made on Aug. 12, 2016, by Lucaine to the victim, who lived in Darien at the time, police said.

The victim didn't want to talk to Lucaine and handed the phone to a friend, police said.

Lucaine told the friend that he wanted to kill the victim two separate times during the conversation, police said.

Both the victim and the friend provided written statements describing the conversation to Darien police.

The victim also told officers that she had been in a relationship with Lucaine for about five years and that he was verbally and physically abusive to her throughout it, police said.

Police confirmed there was a protective order in place barring Lucaine from having contact with the victim after he assaulted her in 2014 in New Rochelle.

Based on the victim's statements and on five voicemail messages that he previously left on her phone, officers completed an application for Lucaine's arrest, which was signed in August, police said.

On Sept. 2, Darien police contacted the Yonkers Police Warrant Squad in an attempt to locate Lucaine, police said.

On Feb. 17 at 3 a.m., the Yonkers City Police Department notified Darien police that they had Lucaine in custody on a Yonkers arrest warrant.

He was been held in custody since that arrest — both on the New York charges and to await extradition on the Darien charges, police said.

On March 20, Darien detectives and officers went to Westchester County Correction facility in Valhalla, N.Y., to pick up Lucaine, police said.

He was then arrested, fingerprinted and photographed at Darien police headquarters.
