STAMFORD, Conn, -- A Darien man who grabbed his girlfriend's purse and drove off with it after an argument was arrested Wednesday, Stamford Police said.
Christopher Oxer, 29, of Henry Street, Stamford, was charged with second-degree larceny and was scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford on Thursday.
Sgt. Kelly Connelly said the couple has been in a relationship for about three years but said the 24-year-old woman had been wanting to get out of it for some time.
On Aug. 13, she went to the Shaggy concert at Alive@Five. Later that night, she saw Oxer parked in his Jeep Grand Cherokee in front of her condo, Connelly said.
The couple argued after he asked where she had been, Connelly said. He took her $200 purse from her and drove away, she said.
Officers arrived and were able to make contact with Oxer, who said he would shortly return to the scene, police said.
But after waiting for 30 minutes, the officers ran out of patience and ultimately a warrant for his arrest was issued, Connelly said.
