The man arrived home at about 11:15 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, and found the rear door unlocked and the home's interior ransacked, police said.
He immediately left the home, located at 68 Maple St., and called police.
Officers found several attempted points of entry, but it appeared that the suspect or suspects gained entry though a bedroom window, police said.
Most of the house appeared to have been rifled through, police said.
A quantity of cash and some jewelry were reported missing from the master bedroom, police said.
The suspect or suspects exited through the rear door that had been found unlocked, police said.
Detectives responded to the scene for further investigation, police said. The investigation is continuing.
